Singular Number
A Noun is said to be singular when it shows only a single person/ one Person, Place, animal, bird, things. Let’s understand with this Example, Boy means one boy.
We add a, and an before a Singular Nouns. Like A bat means one bat.
Examples – a boy, a fan, a table, a rat, a bat, a flower, a hen, a kite, a parrot, a hat, a man etc.
Plural Number
A noun that stands for more than one person, animal, place or thing is said to be in the plural number.
Examples – Two boys, Three birds, Four apples, Three tables, Two pens, Five chairs, Six cats.
Singular and Plural Rules for class 2
Rule 1: Addition of ‘s’ to change into Plural form. (Most of the nouns take ‘s’)
For Example : Hen – Hens, Rat- Rats, Boy- Boys, Book- Books

Rule 7 : Some nouns ending in ‘o’ may take both ‘s’ or ‘es’.

Rule 8 : Noun that end in ‘f’ or ‘fe’ usually change the f sound to v and add ‘s ‘ or ‘es’.
