Essay on a visit to a cinema hall

Cinema is a popular form of entertainment these days. We see huge crowds in front of a cinema hall. The cinema is the cheapest form of entertainment.

Once I had a chance to visit ‘Delite’ in New Delhi to see ‘Satyawan Savitri’ at the evening show. There was a big rush at the booking windows. As I anticipated a great rush, I had three seats reserved a day before.

A little before 6:15 we entered the hall. We occupied our places. At 6:30 the bell rang. Lights were switched off.

All eyes were focused on the screen. First of all, it was shown the newsreel. Next came the cast of characters. Then began the real picture. It was a wonderful sight. I admired the picture for its beautiful scenes and sweet songs. Above all, I valued if for its moral philosophy. It taught the women how devotion and true love conquer death even. Savitri’s faith in virtue, her devotion, and love for her husband and purity of heart prevailed upon ‘Yama’ and forced him to restore Satyavan to life.

During the interval, lights were switched on. We enjoyed biscuits and tea. Soon after the picture started again. The scenes were marvelous and touching.

I enjoyed it there very much and returned home.
