Patrick James Cummins, an Australian cricketer who competes internationally and serves as team captain for both Test and One-Day International matches, was born on May 8, 1993.

In October 2011, Cummins played two Twenty20 International (T20I) and three One Day International (ODI) matches for Australia against South Africa after being given a contract by Cricket Australia in June 2011.

Along with Travis Head, Cummins was named one of Australia's two test vice-captains in January 2019.  where he recorded his first 10-wicket haul, he was the main architect of Australia's innings victory.

Following Tim Paine's departure, Cummins was named the 47th captain of the Australian Test cricket team on November 26, 2021. His vice-captain was introduced as Steve Smith.
