Use of is, am, and are for Class 2

When we describe a person or a thing that indicates what is done or what is being done in present, then we use is, am, and are.

Use of ‘is’

‘Is’ is used with the third-person, singular nouns, and pronouns.

It is used with he, she, and it and also with proper nouns Riya, Deepika, Gujrat, and Museum.

Examples:- 

1. He is a good boy.
2. She is an intelligent girl.
3. It is a beautiful place.
4. Pihu is singing.
5. Riya is dancing.
6. He is watching TV.
7. The cat is sleeping.
8. The museum is beautiful.
9. She is wearing a necklace.
10. He is playing cricket.

Use of ‘am’

Am is used with the first singular pronoun.

It is used with the pronoun ‘I’.

Examples:- 

1. I am a teacher.
2. I am an intelligent student.
3. I am a hardworking girl.
4. I am looking beautiful.
5. I am speaking to her.
6. I am working here
7. I am a girl.

Use of ‘are’

It is used with third-person, plural nouns, and pronouns.

Are is used with pronouns like ‘They’ and ‘you’ and plural nouns like Tables, cats, countries, and people.

Examples:- 

1. They are my classmates.
2. The children are playing.
3. They are helping them.
4. They are going to Village.
5. The birds are flying.
6. The girls are dancing.
7. The boys are singing.
8. They are working women.
9. We are going to a picnic.
10. The bells are ringing.
