Common and Proper Nouns for Class 2

A noun is a name of a person, place, animal, or thing.
Let us learn about its types.

Common Noun

When we refer to some general name of a person, place, or thing it is described as a Common Noun.

It is not written in capital letters unless at the beginning of a sentence.

Examples: Toy, boy, girl, Table, etc.

Exercise:

Proper Noun

When we refer to the specific name of a person, place, or thing then it is described as a Proper Noun.

It always starts with capital letters.

Examples: Raman, Friday, Apple, Gujarat, etc.
