With the release of the first novel, The Philosopher’s Stone, the books were immensely loved, it gained popularity among people, and the stories positively impacted the readers. There was a huge fan following of the Harry Potter series in no time.

People found tremendous interest in the books. So Warner Bros. decided to roll the Harry Potter movie series. It consisted of eight fantasy films starting with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001) and ending the series with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 (2011). The series is mainly produced by David Heyman, primarily starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson as Harry Potter, Ron Weasly, and Hermione Granger. The four directors worked in the series: Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuaròn, Mike Newell, and David Yates. Deathly Hallows – Part 1, Philosopher’s Stone, and Deathly Hallows – Part 2 are among the 50 highest-grossing films of all time, ranking them as the 49th-, 47th-, and 13th-highest-grossing films, with Philosopher’s Stone and Deathly Hallows – Part 2 grossed over $1 billion. It is the third highest-grossing series without inflation adjustment with $7.7 billion in worldwide receipts.

The main character Harry Potter, who lived in Surrey with his uncle and aunt- The Dursleys, found out at the age of eleven that he was a wizard despite living in a non-magical environment with Muggles. Harry received a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Scotland. The letter said, “Congratulations, Mr. Potter, on your admission in one of the finest schools for Witchcraft and Wizardry”. Harry was perplexed because he never thought he was a muggle because of his uncle and aunt.

Soon Harry became a student at Hogwarts, and he was sorted in Gryffindor’s house with his other batchmates, Ron and Hermione, who he met on the train on the way to Hogwarts. As soon as Harry got off the train, he was famous because everyone knew his story except him. The one who survived You-know-who.

1. Philosopher’s Stone (1997)

The first book, The Philosopher’s Stone, described how cruel the Dursleys were. They never wanted Harry to learn about his superpowers. In the introductory chapter itself, when the Durselys prevented Harry from going to Hogwarts, at that time, he met half-giant Rubeus Hagrid, who was Harry’s first contact in Wizarding World. Harry got to know about his abilities on his 11th birthday, and after that, his magical background started to get revealed.

After that, Harry is introduced to the magical world with the help of Hagrid. He explores various shops in the Diagon Alley. Hagrid gifts him an owl who Harry named Hedwig. Harry found his best friends Ron Weasly, who belonged to a fun-loving, large yet low-income family in the wizarding world, and Hermione Granger, an exceptionally bright, brilliant, hardworking witch with a non-magical background. Harry made enemies fast as he was introduced to Draco Malfoy, who was a pure-blood belonging to a wealthy family. He also encounters his potion-making master Severus Snape and defense against the dark arts teacher, professor Quirellel; later, we got to know who was allied with Lord Voldemort.

2. Chamber of Secrets (1998)

Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets, it’s his second year. The trio of Harry, Hermione, and Ron discovers some hidden secrets of Hogwarts. Ginny Weasley, Ron’s younger sister, is in her first year at Hogwarts; she found a diary written during World War II by Tom Marvalo Riddle, which later we get to know is Lord Voldermort’s younger self. The mystery was that all half-blood wizards and witches, informally known as mudbloods, would get killed this year. Hermione was one of them too. The diary controlled Ginny’s mind unconsciously, and Ginny followed Lord Voldemort’s orders. But the trio solved the mystery, and they were successful in their tasks.

3. Prisoner of Azkaban (1999)

The third novel, Harry Potter and Azkaban prisoner, follows Harry in his third year of magical education. It is the only book in the series which does not feature Lord Voldemort in any form, only being mentioned. Instead, Harry must deal with the knowledge that he has been targeted by Sirius Black, his godfather and father’s best friend, and, according to the Wizarding World, an escaped mass murderer who assisted in the murder of Harry’s parents. As Harry struggles with his reaction to the dementors– dark creatures with the power to devour a human soul and feed on despair – which are ostensibly protecting the school, he reaches out to Remus Lupin, a Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher who is eventually revealed to be a werewolf and also a friend of Harry’s father and Sirius Black. Lupin teaches Harry defensive measures, which are well above the level of magic generally executed by people his age. Harry comes to know that both Lupin and Black were best friends of his father and that Black was framed by their fourth friend, Peter Pettigrew, who had been hiding as Ron’s pet rat, Scabbers. In this book, a recurring theme throughout the series is emphasized – in every book; there is a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, none of whom lasts more than one school year. 

The following books, are Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince Harry Potter, and deathly Hallows. In Goblet of Fire, Lord Voldemort returns when Peter Pettigrew performs the magic. In Order of Phoenix, Harry and his friends made a Dumbledore army, and they dealt with Lord Voldemort at the Ministry of Magic. In Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince, we discovered Snape was the Half-blood prince, and he killed Albus Dumbledore to gain Lord Voldemort’s trust. In the final part, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry and Voldemort had a face-to-face fight, where Harry had everybody’s back, Harry’s army fought back Lord Voldemorts Army, and they won.
