Subject and predicate for class 7th

We know that in a sentence there are two main parts namely Subject and Predicate 

The first part of the sentence  is Subject which tells what and who is performing an action and tells us who and what the sentence is talking about. It may be a name, pronoun, or thing.

Subject and Predicate for class 7 Examples

  1. Ritika has been searching for a job for the last two months. (‘Ritika’ is the Subject which tells us who is doing or performing an action (Searching job).
  2. He was running fast. (He’ is the subject who is performing an action (Running).
  3. Sanem is trying to do her homework on time. (Sanem’ is a Subject who is performing an action (trying to do her homework on time).
  4. David was very upset so he left. (‘David’ is Subject who is doing an action) 
  5. Lieutenant General Manoj Pande will be replacing Mukund Narvane as the chief of the Indian army. ( Lieutenant general Manoj Pande is the subject who is performing an action).

What is Predicate in English Grammar?

Predicate is the second part of the sentence. The Predicate of the sentence consists of a number of words that express the action done by the Subject or tells us what the subject does or is. Predicates include the Verb, Principal, Auxiliary verb.

Subject and Predicate Examples:

  1. Ritika has been searching for a job for the last two months. (has been searching for a job for the last two months is Predicate which tells what the subject has done).
  2. He was running fast. (‘was running fast’ is predicate)
