Noun Gender For Class 3

Gender refers to the characterstics of women, men, girls and boys that are socially constructed.

In English grammar gender indicates a noun or pronoun in Masculine, Feminine, common and neuter gender. There are nouns related to the peoples and names which have different genders.

There are four types of gender:-

  1. Masculine gender
  2. Feminine gender
  3. Common gender
  4. Neuter gender

1. Masculine Gender

The masculine gender refers to the male in the category of a person or an animal. Boy, Grandfather, Goose, son, priest, etc. are some examples of masculine gender.

2. Feminine Gender

The female gender refers to the female in the category of a person or an animal. Girl, princess, mother, daughter, and lioness are some examples of feminine gender.

3. Common Gender

The common gender refers to both males and females. Teacher, baby, student, and principal are some examples of common gender.
