The examination is an error, a terror, and a curse. To go through an examination is like going through a pressing mill quite squeezed. It is a very dreadful and terrifying experience one goes through. I have heard great scholars saying: We have been examiners as well as examinees. We can well understand how terrible an examination is. Even Jesus Christ had to say, “Let no one be put to test.”
An examination conducted by a university is no less dreadful. I was in the examination hall and English Paper was before me. The very first and second questions made me nervous. I raised my head and looked around. All were tense and nervous. The faces of the examinees in the hall were betraying their helplessness. There was pin-drop silence in the hall. Then all of them started attempting the paper somehow.
Those who had been working hard, we’re doing the paper well and calmly. Those who had been cramming were heaving deep sighs. The clever among them were trying to cheat and copy. Some of them were looking for an opportunity to use unfair means. The pity was that those who had been posted to prevent the candidates from using unfair means were becoming a party to it. Such things, I am sure will make the coming generations educated illiterates.
