Paris is the most romantic city in the world. Dining in Paris is the most fashionable in the world, and if you want to impress your date, here is the place to be. If you want to propose marriage to your loved one, there may be no better place than Paris.
As you go around the city, you will observe that Parisians value all aspects of fashion. It’s not simply the way Parisians dress; it’s also the way they carry themselves.

Individuality is highly valued in France, and nowhere is this more evident than on the streets of Paris. So, when you begin organizing your trip to France, it is inevitable that you will want to see some beautiful sights or participate in some exciting activities. Paris is the only place where you can have such enjoyable experiences. There are many distinct landmarks and monuments to see, making it difficult to decide which to visit. History of Paris

In 51 BC, Julius Caesar defeated the Celtic “Parisii” tribe. The Romans referred to the area as Lutetia of the Parisii, or “Lutetia Parisiorum.” In 212 AD, the city was renamed “Paris.”

As the Roman Empire began to disintegrate in the West, a Germanic tribe known as the Franks pushed in, conquering it in 464. Clovis I, their king, made it his capital in 506. Although Charlemagne moved his capital to Aachen, Germany, Paris remained an important city that was attacked twice by Vikings. When Hugh Capet was crowned King of France in 987, he made Paris his capital once more. For a long time, the kings only had power over Paris and the surrounding area, with the rest of France in the hands of barons or the English. From 1420 to 1437, the English ruled over Paris during the Hundred Years’ War.

During the Protestant Reformation, the massive killing of French Protestants termed the Saint Bartholomew Day Massacre began there in 1572. Paris experienced numerous more problems under the “Ancien Régime” (Old Kingdom), and then, in 1789, the French Revolution began in Paris, resulting in more massacres.

Paris was the capital of the French Empire, which included, in addition to France, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, the majority of Germany, and portions of Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, and Poland. Napoleon controlled the Empire from 1804 to 1814/1815. In 1814, the Russian army conquered Paris from Napoleon, and in 1871, the Prussian army did the same. The Nazi Germans conquered it again in 1940. The city was liberated by the Allies in 1944 and has not been recaptured since.

Tourism

• The Eiffel Tower is the most renowned landmark in Paris, erected by Gustave Eiffel in 1889 with 6,300 tones (13,900,000 pounds) of iron – that’s 18,000 pieces of iron and 2.5 million rivets. For a long period, it was the highest tower in the world, standing at 300 metres. Every year, almost 6 million people visit. There are three levels to explore, with the highest being 2nd above the earth. It was designed for a fair, but the French government planned to demolish it.

• The Louvre is a museum containing very famous, historical works of art, such as the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo that has stayed with rising popularity. The structure was designed as a residence for French kings. The Louvre is the world’s third-largest museum, with 60,000 square metres (650,000 square feet) of exhibit space. It is the world’s most visited art museum, with over 5 million visitors each year. Originally a train station, the Musée d’Orsay is today an art museum. The majority of the artwork of the Musée D’Orsay was created between 1848 and 1915. This is more recent than the art in the Louvre.

• The Moulin Rouge is a cabaret with many shows, and it opened in 1889. It is in Montmartre — a part of Paris with exciting nightlife. The French cancan is a well-known dance performed by women at the Moulin Rouge.

• The Champs-Élysées is perhaps Paris’s most famous street and one of the world’s most famous. It is teeming with shops and restaurants. The Arc de Triomphe is located at the far end of the Champs-Élysées.
