Subject and Predicate for Class 2

A sentence consists of two parts:

  1. Subject
  2. Predicate

Let us learn them in detail.

1. Subject

The subject in a sentence tells us whom or what the sentence is about.

Example:-

  • Maya is learning English.

In the above sentence, the subject is Maya and the sentence is telling about her.

2. Predicate

The predicate in a sentence tells what the subject do or does an action in a sentence.

Example:-

  • Maya is learning English.

In the above sentence, the predicate is learning English as it is the action done by the subject in the sentence.
