Definition of Interjection: An interjection is a statement or an expression that takes a place on an appearance on reaction or feelings. It expresses sudden emotions feelings, requests, and demands. 

There are various interjections used in our daily life which are as follows:-

  1. Hello!
  2. Hurrah!
  3. Yuck!
  4. Oh no!
  5. Well done!
  6. Alas!
  7. Bravo!
  8. Wow!
  9. Oh!
  10. Ouch!

The above listed Interjections are explained below with examples.

1. Hello!

”Hello!” is used to express a greeting, attract, attention, and also used before starting a conversation on a phone call.

Examples:

  1. Hello! Is there anyone?
  2. Hello! I am back.
  3. Hello! My name is Suresh.
  4. Hello! Please have a sit.
  5. Hello! How are you?.

2. Hurrah!

The ‘Hurrah’ interjection is used to express the reaction of a feeling of excitement or enjoyment.

Examples:

  1. Hurrah! I cleared government exams.
  2. Hurrah! We got selected for a regular college.
  3. Hurrah! I have passed my final exams.
  4. Hurrah! You achieved your target.
  5. Hurrah! Our team won the final match.

3. Yuck!

Yuck! is used when something is disgusting or unpleasant.

Examples:

  1. Yuck! I do not like this food.
  2. Yuck! There is hair in your rice.
  3. Yuck! The pizza is not healthy.
  4. The first word she spoke in her speech was Yuck!
  5. Yuck! I do not like Non-veg.

4. Oh no!

”Oh, no!”  is used as an expression of alarm, concern, or indication about a problem.

Examples:

  1. Oh no! She forgot her bag there.
  2. Oh no! This is a blunder.
  3. Oh no! I forgot to inform her about it.
  4. Oh no! She left him suddenly.
  5. Oh no! We could not impress our seniors.

5. Well done!

”Well done!” is used to express praise or appreciation of achievement.

Examples:

  1. Well done! You have done a great job today.
  2. Well done! You achieved your target this month.
  3. Well done! You sang it beautifully.
  4. Well done! You did it.
  5. Well done! You have managed everything very well.

6. Alas!

The “Alas” interjection is used to express feelings and emotions of sadness.

Examples:

  1. Alas! His leg got fractured.
  2. Alas! My phone has been lost.
  3. Alas! We could not save him from this disease.
  4. Alas! He could not succeed. 
  5. Alas! She is suffering from a fever.

7. Bravo!

” Bravo! ” is used as an exclamation of appreciation or praise for what someone has done.

Examples:

  1. Bravo! He has reached in Final round.
  2. Bravo! She has proved herself.
  3. Bravo! You won the competition now.
  4. Bravo! You grabbed this chance immediately.
  5. Bravo! He achieved the first prize in dance.

8. Wow!

”Wow” is used as an exclamation of surprise and someone is impressed with something or someone.

Examples:

  1. Wow! What a beautiful girl!
  2. Wow! You have a great idea!
  3. Wow! What a luxury car!
  4. Wow! This is an amazing plan!
  5. Wow! What pleasant weather!

9. Oh!

Oh! is used to express surprise, respond to attract attention, and show that you understood something.

Examples:

  1. Oh! We lost him now.
  2. Oh! I understood now.
  3. Oh! You got the job in MNC.
  4. Oh! That is a great plan.
  5. Oh! This is incredible.

10. Ouch!

An ‘ouch’ interjection has a sudden reaction to a feeling of pain.

Examples:

  1. Ouch! The table hurts my knee.
  2. Ouch! The ball hits me.
  3. Ouch! An ant bites me.
  4. Ouch! It is so painful.
  5. Ouch! You are hurting me.
