Determiners For Class 6
Determiners are the words that are used to indicate or refer to something specific or introduce and modify to describe a noun in a given sentence. This, that, my, some his, much, each, neither, some are words that describe determiners.

1. Articles
Articles are words that are used before nouns. There are two types of articles:-
(a) Definite articles
(b) Indefinite articles
(a) Indefinite Articles
Definite articles are ‘a’ and ‘an’.
Use of ‘a’
‘A’ article is used before singular nouns that begin with consonants.
Use of ‘An’
‘An’ article is used before singular nouns that begin with vowels.
Examples:

- Niya eats an apple daily.
- Ravi bought a ring for her mother.
- The girl is buying an umbrella.
- She is an honest girl.
(b) Definite Articles
Use of ‘the’
‘The’ is used before the specific noun or to represent a particular kind of thing.

- Students are sitting quietly in the hall.
- The children are playing in the park.

2. Demonstrative Determiners
Demonstrative determiners indicate illustrating a specific particular thing that indicates a noun or demonstrates a specific noun in a sentence. This, that, these, those are words that describe demonstrative determiners.
Examples:

- Can you pass me that box?
- Seema wants those shoes that you were wearing last night.
- Maya does not want to go out with these people.

3. Distributive Determiners
Distributive determiners are words that refer to a group or indicate specifically in a group individually. Each, every, other, either, neither, any, both are some words to describe distributive determiners.
Examples:
- Either Rahul or his friend will come to the party.
- My brother is neither a teacher nor a lawyer.
- The students study both Spanish and French.
- Every student should bring a flag tomorrow.
- Each participant in an annual function will stay back today.

4. Possessive Determiners
The possessive determination are the words that refer to or indicate something belongingness or ownership and so possession. My, our, your, his, own are some words that describe possessive determiners.

- She is wearing her favourite dress.

5. Quantifiers
Quantifiers determiners refer to the quantity or indicate how much is the quantity expressed and the particular amount of degree of something in a sentence. Much, some, enough, several are words that describe quantifiers determiners.
