Countable And Uncountable Nouns For Grade 3
Nouns can be countable or uncountable. So today we will study countable and uncountable nouns.
Countable Nouns
Countable nouns are nouns that can be counted, whether it is singular or plural. The quantity of countable nouns asks how many? which is combined in the plural form.
1. Countable nouns can be used with articles a, an, and the quantifiers such as few and many.
Examples:-
- It is a rat under the bed.
- She is eating an apple.
2. Concrete nouns can be countable.
Examples:-
- She is eating grapes.
- Children are playing in the park.
3. Collective nouns are countable.
Examples:-
- A heard of sheep
- Library of book
4. The quantifiers such as ‘few’ and ‘many’ are countable.
Examples:-
- She has a few books in herself.
- There are many pencils in the cupboard.

Uncountable Nouns
And uncountable nouns refer to the things that cannot be counted. Uncountable nouns do not have plural forms. Uncountable nouns considered singular and can stand alone.
1. In uncountable nouns we have singular verb.

- The way to the temple is easy to remember.
- This information is relevant.
2. Indefinite articles ‘a’ and ‘an’ cannot be used in uncountable nouns we use a “something” of

3. We use ‘some’ and ‘any’ with uncountable nouns.

- My mother gave me some rice.
- There is any food left in the kitchen.
4. We can use ‘little’ and ‘much’ with countable nouns.
