Adverbs For Class 5
Definition of adverb: An adverb is a word that modified provides information about the verb or the action done in the sentence.
It describes a piece of information about an adjective phrase, verb, or another adverb.
Examples:
- The teachers speak so politely.
- He is a bright student.
- Seema has curly hair.
- They sat quietly in the hall.
- He runs fast towards the gate.
- His mother said to him gentle words.
- He shouted angrily at his sister.
- He goes to the park regularly.
- He is watching TV.
- He always speaks in English.
Types of Adverbs for Class 5
There are five different types of adverbs which are as follows:-
- Adverb of place
- Adverb of manner
- Adverb of time
- Adverb of frequency
- Adverb of degree
1. Adverb of place
An adverb that tells us the place in which an action takes place, is known as an adverb of place.
Examples:
- He is waiting outside.
- He lives somewhere in Pune.
- Talk him inside the room.
- They are going upstairs.
- The shop is in a nearby park.
- He is going anywhere to the hill station.
- Please go to the stadium.
- Do not let him come out.
- He is here to have ice cream.
- What are you doing there?
2. Adverbs of manner
An adverb of manner tells us how something has happened or how someone does something.
Examples:
- They live happily.
- He sang loudly.
- She has the prettiest gown.
- The students speak so politely.
- He is a brave boy.
- She silently completed her all work.
- She is a quiet girl.
- He is very friendly with his sister.
- He should his anger to his brother.
- They listen to all the instructions carefully.
3. Adverb of time
An adverb that tells us the time when the action takes place.
Examples:
- He arrived so quickly.
- Can you call him yesterday?
- They will meet his parents soon.
- He goes to school early in the morning.
- He never performs his task on time.
- We will go for a picnic tomorrow.
- Yesterday we went to the market.
- He will do his work later.
- The lecture was given by him in today’s class.
- He will meet him as soon as possible.
4. Adverb of frequency
An adverb of frequency is an adverb that tells us how often an action occurs.
Examples:
- She is always late.
- He often goes to school every day.
- They usually go shopping on Sunday.
- He goes for a swim twice a week.
- He comes daily for having tea.
- He will never disobey others.
- She frequently keeps a check on her daughter.
- Rakhi normally gets good marks in all subjects.
- He rarely do mistakes in his work.
- He mostly forgot to bring his things.
5. Adverb of degree
An adverb of degree that tells the extent major, or scope of an action condition or relaxation.
Examples:
- He is having lots of fun at the party.
- He was extremely lucky to have a foreign trip.
- He is almost done with his mistakes.
- He Perfectly can manage his work.
- He is so excited about tonight’s party.
- He totally has fun on the rides.
- She is least bothered about his relatives.
- Mahira is intensely hurt by his best friend.
- He has not done fairly in his exams.
- She hardly completes her work on time.
