Adverbs For Class 5

Definition of adverb: An adverb is a word that modified provides information about the verb or the action done in the sentence.

It describes a piece of information about an adjective phrase, verb, or another adverb.

Examples:

  1. The teachers speak so politely.
  2. He is a bright student.
  3. Seema has curly hair.
  4. They sat quietly in the hall.
  5. He runs fast towards the gate.
  6. His mother said to him gentle words.
  7. He shouted angrily at his sister.
  8. He goes to the park regularly.
  9. He is watching TV.
  10. He always speaks in English.

Types of Adverbs for Class 5

There are five different types of adverbs which are as follows:-

  1. Adverb of place
  2. Adverb of manner
  3. Adverb of time
  4. Adverb of frequency
  5. Adverb of degree

1. Adverb of place

An adverb that tells us the place in which an action takes place, is known as an adverb of place.

Examples:

  1.  He is waiting outside.
  2. He lives somewhere in Pune.
  3. Talk him inside the room.
  4. They are going upstairs.
  5. The shop is in a nearby park.
  6. He is going anywhere to the hill station.
  7. Please go to the stadium.
  8. Do not let him come out.
  9. He is here to have ice cream.
  10. What are you doing there?

2. Adverbs of manner

An adverb of manner tells us how something has happened or how someone does something.

Examples:

  1. They live happily.
  2. He sang loudly.
  3. She has the prettiest gown.
  4. The students speak so politely.
  5. He is a brave boy.
  6. She silently completed her all work.
  7. She is a quiet girl.
  8. He is very friendly with his sister.
  9. He should his anger to his brother.
  10. They listen to all the instructions carefully.

3. Adverb of time

An adverb that tells us the time when the action takes place.

Examples:

  1. He arrived so quickly.
  2. Can you call him yesterday?
  3. They will meet his parents soon.
  4. He goes to school early in the morning.
  5. He never performs his task on time.
  6. We will go for a picnic tomorrow.
  7. Yesterday we went to the market.
  8. He will do his work later.
  9. The lecture was given by him in today’s class.
  10. He will meet him as soon as possible.

4. Adverb of frequency

An adverb of frequency is an adverb that tells us how often an action occurs.

Examples:

  1. She is always late.
  2. He often goes to school every day.
  3. They usually go shopping on Sunday.
  4. He goes for a swim twice a week.
  5. He comes daily for having tea.
  6. He will never disobey others.
  7. She frequently keeps a check on her daughter.
  8. Rakhi normally gets good marks in all subjects.
  9. He rarely do mistakes in his work.
  10. He mostly forgot to bring his things.

5. Adverb of degree

An adverb of degree that tells the extent major, or scope of an action condition or relaxation.

Examples:

  1. He is having lots of fun at the party.
  2. He was extremely lucky to have a foreign trip.
  3. He is almost done with his mistakes.
  4. He Perfectly can manage his work.
  5. He is so excited about tonight’s party.
  6. He totally has fun on the rides.
  7. She is least bothered about his relatives.
  8. Mahira is intensely hurt by his best friend.
  9. He has not done fairly in his exams.
  10. She hardly completes her work on time.
